My name is Allie and I am 15 years old and I have a sister with NF1. Operation A Sisters Love, is a project I started as a result of my sister spending much time in the hospital. She was given a blanket while there and it gave her so much comfort I decided other kids needed a blanket when they stay in the hospital. So I told a few people about my idea. They must have liked it because I was getting donations from a lot of people which enabled me to make more than 50 blankets before my first donation to the American Family Children's Hospital in Madison Wisconsin. I would like to become big enough to service more hospitals with blankets and other comfort items to the children.

Blanket Party, Jan 2011

After all that hard work, the money from the dosomething grant is officially used! This previous weekend I had a blanket party. With a goal of 100 blankets we worked for several hours and ended up making 101 blankets! Not only did we meet our goal, but we exceeded it! I would like to thank everybody who helped make the blankets, donated money, Sacred Heart Parish for letting us use their gym, and dosomething.org for the grant. Thank you all.(:

  1. we live in Woodbury Mn and would love to enlist the help of our daughters kindergarten class. would you be able to find a place to donate the blankets we make? any pointers on how much fabric to purchase? i'd love to give all of the children an activity to do over their spring break!!
