After all that hard work, the money from the dosomething grant is officially used! This previous weekend I had a blanket party. With a goal of 100 blankets we worked for several hours and ended up making 101 blankets! Not only did we meet our goal, but we exceeded it! I would like to thank everybody who helped make the blankets, donated money, Sacred Heart Parish for letting us use their gym, and dosomething.org for the grant. Thank you all.(:
- My name is Allie, I am a college student from Appleton, Wisconsin. Operation A Sisters Love, is a project I started as a result of my younger sister, Emma spending time in the hospital. Emma has multiple brain tumors from a genetic condition she has, Neurofibromatosis Type 1. While she was undergoing treatment, she was given a blanket and it gave her so much comfort that I decided other kids needed a blanket when they stay in the hospital. I started OSL when I was only 11 years old, today I am almost 20 and have made more than 1,000 blankets. With the support of my friends, family, and even strangers, I have been able to continue to make blankets as often as possible.
